Unless you’re a football or whit sox fan that is. Went to the Cubs game last night. Had a blast drinking 312 and watching Jake Arrieta go beast mode on the brewers pitching a 3 hit complete game shut out for his 20th win of the season. First pitcher in the league to hit the 20 mark this season. Then had an awesome burrito from a tiny joint on Addison.

Wait, the Cubs won?
As a lifelong Cubs fan, who lived in Oak Park back in the ‘70s, I feel entitled to ask that question without recrimination. Despite my long affinity for the team, I only made it to Wrigley once in my life. I was in town to audition for the Chicago Symphony (I didn’t get the job), and the Rockies were in town, too. I was staying with friends who lived in Evanston, and after lunch at Berghoff’s, I and another failed applicant hopped the El and headed to the game. It was in April, and it was cloudy and cold as hell, but by the time we took our seat in the RF bleachers with Sammy Sosa, the clouds parted, the sun came out, and it warmed to about 65 degrees. We sat out there, eating stale peanuts and drinking Old Style, singing with Harry, and the Cubs lost. Somehow, it would not have been a complete experience had the Cubs won. We finished the day with dinner at Greek Islands and way to much retsina. Hell of a day.

Dude the cubs are the 4th best team in baseball and 3 wins away from clinching a playoff berth. They have surpassed everyone’s expectations for this year with everyone just hoping they would be a .500 team. Currently they are 23 or 24 games over 500 and will be going for their 90th win tonight. And Kris Bryant is breaking all sorts of franchise rookie records, looks to be a shoe in for the NL rookie of the year and Jake Arrieta is a frontrunner for the NL Cy Young award

That shows you that I don’t follow the game. I’m a bigger Blackhawks fan than Cubs fan. Great news, though! Go Cubs!
